Monogem Reveals Love’s Glow On ‘So Many Ways’

R&B/soul diva Monogem recently released “So Many Ways,” the title track from her forthcoming EP.

Explaining the song’s inspiration, she says, “Love… There are so many ways to feel it, embrace it, define and design it. I wanted to capture all the feelings of falling in love, being in love, being tempted by love, and pulling it all apart, in one song. There’s so much energy and color that we pulled from everyone involved. I want anyone who listens to it to feel energized and free to fall in love with anyone and anything around them.”

Monogem is the musical progeny of singer-songwriter Jen Hirsh, who borrowed her name from the leftover glow from an exploded star — a monogem ring, an apt description of her sensuous otherworldly sound.

In 2017, she dropped her second EP, 100%, along with a Remix EP. Her single “Wild” went viral, amassing more than 65 million streams in China, while the music video for “Wild,” featuring Coco Arquette, was featured on Good Morning America, E! News, NYLON, and Perez Hilton, as well as many other outlets. She followed with a series of dazzling singles in 2018, including “Get You High” and, following her tour with Animal, “Shade.”

“So Many Ways” opens on oscillating tones flowing into gleaming pulsating synths riding sparkling synths exuding creamy iridescent flavors. A plump potent bass line and crisp drums provide the suave rhythm, as Monogem’s sumptuous voice glides overhead, infusing the lyrics with simmering erotic washes of textures.

“Up too late, with you last night / I didn’t mean to, I always do this / Honestly, you’ve been on my mind / Since we connected, it’s messed up / So what is love? / Is it when I hold back.” Followed by the deliciously radiant chorus: “So many ways / We can define love / And be who are / So Many ways / We could design love / And pull it apart / In so many ways.”

“So Many Ways” ripples with vibrant blushes of ethereal tantalizing colors crowned by Monogem’s scrumptious spectral-flavored voice.
